2000CLK430 Idle and Hesitation

Just took delivery of a 2000 CLK430 whose former owner apparently liked to drive it more than service it ( don't ask!). It has 40,000 miles. When sitting in traffic or at a stop light, it sometimes idles roughly and feels like it's going to stall. When the pedal is applied to accelerate, it stumbles and then runs fine. Air filters have just been replaced. At first, I thought it might be the fuel filer (which I'll change, anyway), but that should make things worse at higher speed and surely on hard accel (which it doesn't).

I'm guessing throttle body or MFS or...??

Any suggsetions?

Thanks,

Frank

Can not narrow that one down for you.
There are too many common problems with that specific vehicle that will cause that exact symptom.
You might get five different good suggestions and they could still all be wrong.
Take it to a trusted indy shop.

Exclamation

Spark plugs are a common problem on any car! That car should have new plugs every 60K-100K miles OR 5 years which ever comes FIRST!

Thanks, guys. I'm going to start with a good cleaning of the TB's and MFS, and then pull a few plugs (lots to choose from!!).

Any other ideas out there?

Best,

Frank
