I believe phillips makes an HID kit for xenons. I don't know if the headlight assemblies on the ML for xenon are different than for regular lights..

Try searching for Xenon using the search feature found near the top of the page on the right.

Does the ML55 model come with or offer the Xenon lamps?
If so, that would probably be your best bet.
Good luck!

Xenons

The ML-55 does come with Xenons as well as an option on the ML-430. I want to swap them out if possible. My local dealer here in Charlotte,N.C. looks at me like I have two heads when I ask them for advice. Thanks for all of your help and I will continue my quest!!

Personally the only Xenon lights that I would pay fifteen cents for would be those in the new S class. They have a means of using Xenon for both high AND low beam. I paid $1,000 for Xenon's when I ordered my '96 E Class. It still had halogen high beams as do all but the new S Class.

Unless you can find a way to have Xenon high beams my experience and recommendation is to save your money.

Have a great day,

Xenons

Okay guys I am now officially out of the Xenon quest business ! Spoke with some great people at Phillips lighting and then contacted some of the sources they gave me. Xenon after market lighting systems are not street legal! They also are expensive ! I did find some great web sites if anyone is interested.

http://www.xenonlights.com,www.hidlights.com,you can also call a few distributors, GI-JOES 1-800-578-Joes,Auto Optics 1-888-525-8658. Thanks again!

Xenons on S-Class

Larry, are you sure about the S-Class having xenons on the high beam? I was under the impression on the CL does for now, being the first car to offer that. My CL uses both the xenon for the high beam(really just a shutter raises) but also the halogen high beams come on as well. REALLY lights up EVERYTHING in front of you. They are GREAT for my aging eyes.

Yes, it's just a shutter that allows the low AND high beam. I understood that it was the latest series S Class that made them available, but it certainly could have been some other models as well. It's also possible that I misunderstood exactly which model worked that way.

Have a great day,

CL is the only Mercedes with Bi-Xenon.....for now.

CL is the only Mercedes with Bi-Xenon, for now. And it's strictly to European/Asian Spec CLs. US/Canadian CL makes do with Halogen High Beam only.

S-Class uses Xenon Low-Beam, but Halogen High Beam/Fog Light.

CL with XENON

AKRY, my 2000 CL DOES indeed have bi-xenon. When I turn on brights, you can see (against the wall) the higher beam for the brights and then in addition the halogen high beams come on as well. But it is DEFINITELY raising the shutter to open up the beam. I have heard complaints from some CL owners that their cars didn't have the feature. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. Matter of fact, I think the bi-xenon info was taken out of the 2001 brochure.

is4b2rd,

I think you have one of the earliest build CLs designated for North America, as from what I was told by Mercedes, MB couldn't make Bi-Xenon standard on 2000 CLs due to regulations. Maybe 2001 CLs have them?? I will check and see what I can find out.

Post some pictures!! CL is such a beautiful car!! It's my second favourite Mercedes-Benz(C140 is still my favourite MB)

Now that we are on this topic, are there any aftermarket Xenon's for a Lexus LX470?

Yap, that's the one alright. That's the guy who put stock ML55 Xenon lights on his ML430. Notice that stock Xenon light has CLEAR lenses instead of "patterned" lenses on normal, halogen headlights...
