Remote window features on 202

Not really a problem, but I was wondering. The W202 has a "roll up the windows, close the sunroof" feature when you lock the car -- hold the remote button down or hold the key in the lock a moment longer than usual, and the windows and sunroof close. That's in the manual, and I've used it now and then.

What I wish is that there was a similar "roll down" feature for the windows when you unlock the car. It would be damned helpful in letting the collected hot air out after the car sits in the vicious NO sun. The manual doesn't mention it, just the roll-up, but you know how those undocumented features can surprise you. . . . (In IT, we said, "It's not a bug, it's an undocumented feature!")

Anybody know? Or was that only on the E and S-classes?

The C class cars got the "summer opening" or "rapid ventilation" feature starting in MY 1998. That's the year they switched from infra-red locking to radio frequency. The thinking was that with IR locking, the button may be inadvertantly pressed and held, opening the windows and sunroof accidentally. With radio frequency the button must be pressed, held, and AIMED at one of the receivers ( door handle(s) or trunk button ) from only a few feet away, eliminating the possibility of unintended opening.
