560SL, Adding angled spark plug connector to wires, how is this done?

1988 560SL. Found a bad spark plug wire so I went to the dealer and got a new set. Fastlane and other sites say the #3 and #4 ends must be changed to the angled connector.

So how is this done? I don't want to ruin the wire set. Detailed instruction woudl of course be appreciated. Would have been nice if the dealer parts guy had told me about this. I could have gotten the parts when I was there.

i have never seen a replacement set that comes with the angled wires, use the ones you have, you will be fine, if you are determined to change them, they screw off.

Some things I found by playing with it and using your advice.

The end fittings just screw off like a nut and bolt? I found out-yes
About how many turns, or until tight? Once its apart you can see the answer. There is a brass end with a bolt style connector to screw in.t

And then check continuity? Yes if you want to. BUT you can tell when it is connected and tight.

The OEM set comes with a harness tube for installation. I notice the sets from Fastlane do not. I assume that you use the old tube and screw off the ends, insert the wire thru the tube and then attach each end. Or just route the wires with out the tube. What is normally done?

I got the set from the dealer in Dallas. $120 for Bosch. They did not tell me I had to buy the #3 and #4 angled spark plug connector, would have been nice of them to do that. So I will get them tomorrow.

I edited this post after I found the coil to cap wire in the box. I did screw one of the connectors off. It has a brass connector that has a bolt style head so it does screw on and off. Thanks for the info.

Additional question

I installed the spark plug connectors on #3 and #4 plugs. They fit without the angled connectors. About 1/4 inch between the wires that come together with the angled setup of the plugs. The units can be removed and installed easily.
ARE THESE ANGLED CONNECTORS REQUIRED????

The replacement set fits fine. Why did Mercedes make the angled fitting? Is there a reason? Can't I just use the set as is and without the angled connectors??

Has anyone installed a set without changing the #3 and #4 conncetors. If so how did she run?
