It is disconnected and I cannot tell where it came from

it is the electrical switch for the engine hood catch, see pictures below it attahces under the drivers side latch i believe

so, is it simply some type of antitheft device? Thanks

I have a similar question:

Is the 126 820 11 11 a similar part of the alarm on my 92 SL?
If it is, would it be a sensor to determine if the hood has been opened, or would it be a "tow" sensor?

It is in the hood just by the Hinge on the driver's side (USA).

I am searching to see what would be causing my alarm to sound for no reason when I park the car in the sun...

that one is only for the alarm activation should the hood be opened. i don't believe the 1992 had a tow sensor, but i may be wrong.
