74 450 SL No Fuel Pressure
My 1974 450SL was in a SERIOUS front-end accident about 5 years ago. I purchased the car and just lubed the cyls and spun engine with starter - all good and 35 psi oil pressure.....
But I'd pulled the plugs and injector in/out lines, and got great spark but NO fuel pressure....nor is there noise from the tank.... Is there a diagnosis procedure and/or does MB have a safety cutoff for fuel pump that triggers in accidents? ....another problem is that the trunklid is from a newer car and we have no key......any suggestions on where I should access the vacuum system to cycle the trunk lock? I need to open the fuel door to syphon any fuel left in tank....although gauge is reading empty |

Fuel In Tank
Can't open the D*&mn fuel door with no vacuum pressure and the trunk lock key is missing!!
I'm expecting the answer is "no", no fuel now or if so, because of the angle I've got the car sitting it is away from the pickup, but still believe I should hear some pump activity when I trigger the ignition before cranking. As my other post says - I'm looking for a simple access point (or a difficult one) to access the vacuum line that will cycle the trunk lock and allow me to pop the fuel door.... Thanks! John |
