MB timing chain press
 
hi

does anyone have or know where to get the MB timing chain press tool for single row chains , it for the 16v

i would be greatful

The timing chain press makes a very pretty crimp, but you can get the job done well with nothing more than a ball peen hammer and body dolly. If you don't have a body dolly you can use a bigger ball peen hammer.

Get the chain all in place with the master link inserted from the rear with the joint being at the very top. Feel of the plate and put the smooth side forward when putting in place. Back up with the dolly or big hammer on the back side and peen the pins with the other ball peen hammer. Peen down both pins thoroughly.

This will not be as pretty, but will work great.

I use to do the same 'til my rear pinion socket got "Lost"..
