Hi all,

I need some inputs on what to look for when the blower motor goes dead after I drive the car for a while. My car is a 1992 500e. I looked at the control panel on the dash board. The connection looks solid. I recently had the head worked on. Is there a particular connector that may come loose under vibration? The blower would come back afer seating in the garage overnight.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Thanh

There is a 30 amp strip fuse for the blower in a little black rectangular box forward of the main fuse box. Pop it open and check the strip fuse. If it's discolored or corroded, replace it and you should be OK. If that's not an issue, then you have another problem. Remember, that fuse can look good, but actually be a open circuit that intermittently returns to life. Good Luck.

My blower motor runs all the time even with the speed lever in the left most position. Ther is a climate control switch that does turn it off but the manual says not to leave it in that position very long. Why is it that the blower motor should run all the time. Are these squirrel cages built to last???

My guess is that the bearings not the motor goes out leading to the squirrel squeal.
