I have an 1982 300SD and had to rebuild the engine after it seized. I'm having trouble figuring out how to time the injection pump because after the engine seized, I was unable to rotate the engine to TDC to mark the injection pump and I therefore have no marks to go by. I would appreciate any help on the matter.

You will need to pull out the pump and rotate the engine to the specified place. (I think it is in the 22-24 range as indicated on the sticker, but don't quote me on that.)...next you line up the marks on the injection pump and install it. After that you can reinstall it and all should be ok after the fine tune.

I think I answered you on another web site, but I'm not sure.Since my scanner is not working(or maybe it's me),if you will send me your address, I will be glad to make copies and send them to you. They are from the MB factory manual and consist of four pages. The instructions are fairly simple and no special tools required. I await your reply.

Eric,
I have copied the instructions on how to time your MB diesel by the drip tube method. Just install the pump like the MB Doc says, and fine tune by the instructions I'm sending by US Mail. I'll mail them tonite, so you should get them Fri.or Sat. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
