1992 190E 2.6 Steering damper removal

Anyone,

I can't seem to remove the steering damper. Specifically the last bolt which is attached to the chassis. The bolt hit the drag link when I pull it out.

If I remove the drag link then the drag link will hit the damper bolt.

help,
Joseph

Put both front wheels in the air, key in the ignition to position one (unlocks the steering) and turn the wheels. On my 300E, I think I had to have the wheels cocked to the right a bit (or was that left..??). With the wheels off the ground, you can probably just turn them by manhandling one of the tires.

Make sure the front is properly supported on jackstands.

I think its wheels turned left....pretty obvious once you turn the wheels one way or the others

i think i put the passenger side on a stand...just to get more access.

This stumped me too... at first... but its about as basic of a job as there is...
