i am getting a valve job done on my 87 300e. since its going to take a few days i figured i would fix that cracked up paint on my valve cover. what kind of paint should i use?
should i plate it with a aluminum/ceramic coating? your comments will be appreciated. thanks! adam |
Hi Adam. Well, since you asked. You can pretty much give it any treatment that pleases your eye. Keep in mind the black plastic plug wire bail that snaps into the top of the cover. Also the oil filler cap. When I redid my head a while back, I stripped all the paint and cleaned the cover and repainted semigloss black VHT lacquer. Looks great and still keeps most of the oil inside the engine...:D:D:D:D:D:D

I've had 4 for race car engines stripped & then Powder coated, won't break down like regular paint will. They look as good as new. Local shop charges $40-50.
