93 500sel rear left squeak noise
 

i just bought a 93 500sel and when i get into the car the rear left squeaks it gets worse and annoying when i am driving at low speeds like in parking lots it has the self leveling suspension

- 122k miles

Got same thing on my 92 500SEL..started @ 125k, got progressively worse..now on both sides....I've sprayed everything and taken it to dealer. Best I can do is "feel" squeak when I hold shock cover. QUITE annoying. Hope someone has an answer.

i took it to a suspenison shop and they told me the shocks need to be changed out he showed how their is a vibration in the shock and said thats whats making the noise

squeaky rear shocks?
 

never heard of that before. Vibration where? The bottom ball joint is separately replaceable--but never heard of one wearing out. I suppose it can also be greased with a needle injector

the vibration was felt on the shock cover when moving the car around to make the squeak noise

i was told that rear shocks need to be changed out to fix the noise

do you know if the rear air suspenison shocks take some kind of gas like nitrogen cell???
