I have a few problems but don't have $$ to get it diagnosed by a mechanic in my area
I have a 1982 300sd,the RPM guage stopped working, the light that used to lighten up the gauge cluster/shifter area and climate control does not work anymore, could this be a electrical problem? My antenna does not go up or down so i don't know if i need a motor or if it is a electrical problem effecting the lights and that. all of the other lights work fine in the car though so it's confusing. Anyone have any good advice?

Start at the fuse box...
|
1. Tachometer....search <cigarette butt> (No, I'm NOT kidding).
2.Lights at CC and shifter....search <octopus or potentiometer> (Again, not kidding). 3. Antenna .....search <antenna> The search function will give you the answer to these problems that are often discussed. Welcome to the board. :) |
the buld in the cluster is burned out ,just remove instument cluster and i would replace all bulbs ,cause others will follow, check the fuse with the antenne and rpm gage.but do not just visually inspect it,but also take a small screwdriver or a pick and pull the fuse wire gentley.cause sometimes a fuse might look good ,but has a crack in it and is no good ,but u cant see it.usally when the rpm guage does not work it is the rpm contol module.it is under the hood usally on the left side fender.it is round and about 1 inch in diameter and about 2 inches long
