E430 -need help deciphering (VMI) Vehicle Master Inquiry
I am looking to buy an ’01 E430 for wifey. Silver over black, sport package, 49k miles, nice. The seller has given me a printout from the dealer where he had it serviced detailing all the work the car has had the past few years. The report includes a column titled “Operation” with different codes.
My questions are: Is there a list somewhere of these service codes? (i.e. 51MBZ – Body Electrical, 47MBZ-Axle/Differential, 14MBZ-Exhaust, etc). Can I assume that service (FSS) at 11k,22k,34k,44k is normal? Asking price is right where kbb suggests, $25k. I'm not looking to bypass an inspection by my local shop, but I have 2 pages of RO's on the car in 4 years, although nothing looks too weird. Thanks for the advice. |

The level of servicing is satisfactory by factory standards. It is suitable for a car to be used a 100 to 150,000 miles. Luckily the car is young enough to be not be hurt much by such satisfactory service.
There was a post here a while back that gave all the labor codes for repairs. Other than service the only good knowing what repairs have been done is to review the successful completion of such. Nothing in history tells about the present. Get the car checked out by a professional if you wish such info.
