Keyless Entry for 300E? HOW?

Has anyone installed one on a 87 300E? I see a post in the DIY for 95 E class which is much different than the earliar E class. Anyone with a brand and model of a keyless entry system? I just want something simple that can lock and unlock door, while keeping the factory alarm.

thanks

I got one from ItalianBenz, I think he said it was installed factory on his 500E, dunno the brand name, maybe Benz Key, according to this post FS: Factory installed keyless entry , might have to ask him for more info on it. But it just went right into the trunk unit, and it works pretty easy, one click locks, two arms the alarm, I think... Maybe the second button arms it. Anway, I think my system is the same as yours its a 92 300CE, probably a lot closer anyway, than a 95. I have searched for the unit I have, on the internet, never called the dealership, and its not in the service CD, and found nothing about it, so i'm sorry I cant be of more actual help, but maybe something you can find more on than me. But apparently it does exist.

most car alarm shops would be able to do that for you. for about 149 you'll also get remote start. try calling some and see if they have done mercedes before.
Good luck.

At the top of this page, click on the "Home" tab.

On the right hand side of the page (in blue letters), click on "Do It Yourself".

The second sub-heading is "Chassis".

Halfway down the "Chassis" sub-heading is an excellent article entitled, "W124 Keyless Entry Install". (it's exactly what you're looking for)

Actually, all those DIY articles should be considered assigned reading for any MercedesShop member -- they're fantastic, and an excellent resource.

Good luck,

Jeff Pierce

While I have no direct personal experience with fitting keyless entry to either car... they all use the same vacuum activated locking system. So I'd bet my left nut that the proceedure is the same.

Recieved and installed this past week. Very easy install, especially if you didn't bother with getting the blinkers to blink. I like the flip key, it looks much more OEM/stock than most other key fobs i have seen.

Is this model/brand sold in north america? It's 20Euros alone just for shipping.
Also, the DIY ..has instructions for later versions of the 124 chasis.
