a/c issue
ok.... i know many of you are going to scold me for pressure washing the engine.... but i wanted to clean up an area around the famous front cover area looking for possible seepage
sprayed off that area...and another area around the power steeering pump... then gave the engine a quick light once over. got in the car, started it up .....no a/c. nothing wrong with the blower. My guess is the compressor isn't kicking in. Did I blow a fuse? This was on my way to work..so I won't be able to check it out until later. If you know where the fuse is ...let me know... This is on the 1989ce. |
First of all I wash underhood all the time with no ill effects. On the newer computer controlled cars you have to worry a little about electrical connectors, but if you just kind of lightly dust it with the car wash wand you will have no trouble.
Secondly, the belt was wet after the wash causing it to slip. This caused the compressor rotation sensor to cause the compressor to kick out. It will probably be okay today. No worries. Good luck, |
I'll let you know later, Larry... nice to know there are some other engine "washers" out there... I do stay away from the distributor and coil.

went out for lunch..... the a/c is back!!!

I'm a "washer" too. Its easier to work on and easier to find a new leak when its clean.
