fan shroud removal

I cannot remove the fan shroud, there is not enough room between the viscous fan and the fan shroud to remove it without using excessive bending.
I think it has something to do with the front left of the car a little inner than the right side, the car has been in a accident and the front left was rebuilt.
Is the viscour fan removal easy? I assume removing this would allow the room needed to remove the fan shroud.
thanks for any help.

Fan + fan clutch must come out in order to remove the shroud. To take out the fan/clutch, you need an 8mm allen wrench, an extension for leverage (I use a 10 or 12mm deep socket on a breaker bar) and a 1/4" piece of steel rod with a little 90 degree bend at the end to hook into the back of the fan pulley, and keep it from turning while you unbolt the clutch.

Don't forget to take out the steel rod when you've got everything put back together! (from experience..)

I removed the shroud with the fan clutch in place. the fan however needs to be removed. give the shroud a few rotations and see which way it will come out easiest.

Oops, you're right. You can unbolt the fan from the clutch and the shroud should come out. I just usually find it easier to take them both out together, since it's just one big bolt instead of three little ones.
