error codesfrom pin 6 on 1990 SL 129 ?
 

HI please can any one help I have just done a diagnostic check to see if there are any error codes on my 1990 SL 500 which has the 16 pin diagnostic socket and when I use the LED test on the number 6 pin I get error code 6 and 8. Can any one tell me what these codes are .I have tried to clear them to see if there old ones

The answer is - it depends. Your car does not have a DM module so it depends on whether the LED is reading the socket 14 codes, MAS Controller, or the socket 8 codes, Distributor Ignition.

If it's reading socket 14:
6 - Output for kickdown switch control defective
8 - Engine coolant temperature sensor signal out of range

If it's reading socket 8:
6 - Camshaft position sensor faulty
8 - Transmission overload switch does not close

You can find out which one it's reading by building the code reader (search) and then pulling the codes from each socket, or perhaps someone knows.
