I am the new owner of a 94 e420 w/ 93K. When test driving the car before purchase, I noticed the climate control didn't seem to work right..when set at 72 degrees or so, the fan would kick in full blast, but not slow down after the interior warmed up..I would have to manually switch it to the low fan setting. Is this the interior temperature sensor not working? anything else? I was told that Mercedes has a plug in diagnostic tool for this climate control, and that they could tell right away. The car is under a warranty, and I'd like to get it fixed.

JP does the fan
ever slow down. I wondered some of the same questions about my '95 E320 until I figured out that you can adjust the temp dial and make it slow down or speed up. Before taking it anywhere try changing the settings on the temp dial while the fan speed pushbutton is in the middle position. Also, the defroster blows hard, hot whenever the defrost button is pushed.

cc fan
the fan doesn't really slow down, even though the interior is very warm, as in "open the windows, it's too hot in here". I put the fan on low..it's ok..I put it back on the center "auto" button, and the fan kicks in hard. This is not right, si?
I tried setting the wheel back to 66-8 or so, the fan slows down A LITTLE- but shouldn't the fan slow down a lot when the interior reaches the designated temp? The car is new to me and I was very busy checking out a lot of things when I bought it. well that's my excuse anyway. It's under a warranty from the seller, Star Mercedes in Illinois. JP |

As far as I know the fan should slow down when the set(ted) temperature is reached and the climate control is switched in auto position. The dealer can plug in diagnostic tools to check the airco system (at least...that is a possibility on most of the models from that same year).
greetingz,
