93 transmission gear
 
i bought this car and im just curious to know if their is anything wrong with my transmmision the man i bought it from said he owns a merceades repair shop and says its how benz trannys are.

93 500sel
the problem is when my car is in drive and i change it into reverse or any other gear it takes a while (a little bit longer than what im use to) to get fully get into that gear.

That is not normal, i have replaced several reverse clutch packs to fix that very problem.
due to normal wear there is too much clerance between the friction disc and the hard discs. the clutches and the main disc for the reverse gets replaced. in severe cases i have seen this problem escalate and ruin the transmission,

the parts are relatively inexpensive, probably around $100,
what costs is the removal and instsallation of the transmission and dissasembly. that price would depend greatly on what the repair shop you take it to charges hourly.
