Rotors for A 94 E320
Hello all!!
Its about time to replace my set of completely warped rotors. I drive spiritedly and use the brakes quit aggresively and need your opinion. The first set of rotors I used up were ATE Slotted rotors that lasted quit a while. The set I have now are Zimmerman Cross drilled and didnt last so long. I use Pagid pads. My main question I have is, I have heard that I can use '95-97 rotors on my car as they are thicker and dont have the warping issues that the 94 model year has. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks Chris |
96/97 is 210 chassis and likely different. There was a change from 22 mm to 25 mm during the 94 model year and 95s got the 25 mm. I'm pretty sure you have to change out the calipers to switch from 22 to 25. The first question is what do you have now. They should be stamped with the minimum thickness - 22s are 19.4 and 25s are 22.4.

Thanks!! I heard you have to change to 95 pads which are thinnner. I just want to make sure.

Same calipers
They simply increased the thickness of the disc , so you have to use the later pads [ thinner] http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/mercedesshop/sophio/wizard.jsp?partner=mercedesshop&clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&cookieid=1D00YU6RY1KU0SXYOI&year=1994&make=MB&model=E-320-001&category=N&part=Brake+Pad+Set&appChassis=_any |
Actually, 1994 was not the first year of the thicker rotors. The 294 mm x 25 mm rotors were introduced in the 1993 W124.032 models.

Change was apparently at #864308 - not sure when that was. The 124.034s came first - I believe for all 93s.
