I have an old Proto torque wrench - 1/2 inch drive, 250 ft.lb. max; handle
is around 20-24 inches long. I made a mistake years ago and used it as a breaker bar when removing a rear axle nut from a '74 Karmann Ghia coupe and broke off one of the ratchet teeth (inside of the cover). I'd like to find where to have this fixed and to have the wrench calibrated at the same time. Can anyone give me an address or phone number or URL to have this repaired and calibrated. Thanks in advance...

Jay, If I were you I would just get a new one. I personally think Stahlwille makes the world's best torque wrenches. They will also calibrate it for you for free. You don't want to mess around with a torque wrench that's been damaged like yours was. Torque is an important value to have correct! Go to http://www.stahlwille.com and see what they offer.

Take a look at these:
For cal and repair Protos and many others http://www.anglerepair.com/ about $17.50 http://www.torquerepair.com/ about $20.00 Certified (paper certificate) is extra as is cleaning, repair, etc. Try your local airport maintenance facility. they can usually give you a lead on a calibration service. They are suppose to have theirs certified (paper cert) every year. For the really up tight: http://www.kc.gsa.gov/fss/hac/engineering/torque2.htm Good luck.
