Car stalls at idle
1991 300E 3.0. Replaced fuel dist, cleaned fuel injectors, etc. All of a sudden the car stalls after starting and as soon as you hit the gas. I am at a loss.

how does it drive otherwise?
Does it ALWAYS stall? Try a search on OVP... Over Voltage Protection relay |
Could be a lot of things. The best is a systematic approach to check the fuel and ignition system (check spark, can you hear fuel pumps?, measure fuel pressure etc). My wild guess would be: distributor and rotor.
Good luck, Bruno |
this also
could be a vacuum leak.

The airflow meter vane actuates the plunger in the fuel distributor, and this determines mixture ratio (lambda). If mixture adjustment is off, the idle control valve will compensate at low airflow, but it is inactive (and ineffective) above idle. If mixture is so far off that the EHA cannot compensate, you will stall. The mixture control adjustment MUST be checked when the fuel distributor is replaced. Since idle works, this is good. You can check mixture once the O2 sensor has warmed up, or adjust mixture for the correct EHA current if you have the test harness.
