w126 exaust: swap usa-to-European?
Gentleman, I have a question w/ regards to my exaust. I have a restored 380 sel, 82 w/ a new centermuffler and tailpips. Now, my headhipe that includes the catalyst is on its way out after 25yrs. of service. Question is, can you swap the European head pipe unit to the standard centerpipe? Does this European set-up "not have" the catalyst but have a O2 sensor location or....? I noticed the European is cheaper. I have the car inspected and am not worrying about the catalyst. Besides, it is almost exempt from emmisions anyway. Anyone do this? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! les

Tampering with an emissions device is a violation of federal law. Fix it right, please.

I don't think the EPA has jurisdiction in Germany :)
Check www.timevalve.com. The answer might be in their images or you can direct a question to them. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |

Well, I guess I will just run open headers and get rid of the air injection system too. Oh my god!! The EPA police....he removed the catalyst, call the DMV too !
Hey $pit!, Just looking for an answer, not your opinion; I don't live in DE anymore, I live in MD. So therefore, you can get a life...I suppose please.... :P Besides, if I want opinions on how to fix my car, we got Larry "the master" Bible; Lucky my r134 ac conversion still works...after 3 yrs now. Starting to sound like the Corvette site now. Hey Sixto..thanks for the link; I think they have what I want. All I was looking for is that if anyone has done this sucessfully. |

You can make the swap w/o issue. You will need to plug the EGR port on your intake if you don't plan on re-installing it. I just made the switch to 4 piece manfilds and timevalve down pipes on my coupe and I Love it..!
You can have a look at the pics on my site below. Jonathan |
