Early Model w140 Climate Control Bulb out

I have a BOSCH MB 140 830 20 85 Climate Control Unit with the right side dial and LCD (illumination light) out. Needless to say, at night this very annoying since you are unable to see the temperature LCD or adjustment wheel.

If anyone can offer any assistance on how to replace the bulb, I WOULD GREATLY appreciate their help. I have removed the climate control unit many times on my w140, so I have no issues with the removal of the unit. I have also pulled the front cover of the Climate Control Unit, and loosened the screws behind the pannel, but it seems there is a “trick” to finding the bulb and the final removal of the panel to access the bulb.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You need to carefully remove the "auto" button to access the bulb. The bulb is located inside the small round compartment with the slot on it. If you grab the small cover with a pair of needle nose pliers it should pull off. Then you must pull the bulb out of its socket. Small needle nose pliers will work to pull the bulb out, but you must be careful not to break the bulb. Hope this helps, Robert.
