MB DOC,
Could you please tell me where the idle valve is located?
I have manual on CD. Do you know what group it is in?
Using the find option, could only find idle speed air
valve, contact 2 and no picture of valve.
A while I broke down on the highway and a MB mobil tech,
stuck his arm under the air cleaner and plugged a hose
in and the car started. How ever i didn't see how he did it. Is this hose hard to replace. (idle valve) At 200K
it probably is brittle.

Try sections 7.3 or 7.5 or 15 of the engine manual.

The idle valve is in a rubber mount BETWEEN the # 3&4 intake runners. AS I stated before the hose is BELOW the intake manifold, directly in the middle! Can't be seen, only FELT by reaching under the manifold. THE air filter assembly must be removed. If you have large arms the distributor cap has to be removed.
