W124 - swap door locks
Can someone give me really careful instructions on how to swap the driver's side door lock with the passenger side? The driver's side one is toast - it comes right out when you pull the key out of it, and it does not function anymore to unlock the door. About a third of the locking tabs are out of it - they had worn out and the locksmith said to just remove them to make the key work OK. The passenger side one works fine still. I'm close to my wits end - it's either this or install a keyless entry! Car is a 1994 E320 station wagon.

First, remove the plastic cover on the side of the door so you can disconnect the electrical connection. Next, there's a 4mm allen screw on the same side of the door, concealed by a small plastic cover. Loosen this screw, put the key in the tumbler, and turn it 45 degrees to the right. Move it around a bit and you should be able to remove it.
