the threads should be fine. the head of the stud is stripped. I still have my old studs, I will definitely get two new ones. I tried running a die down one of the old studs and it would not go. they are stretched. I kinda need to finish this by friday so I will make a trip to pep boys and the stealership to find a few new studs and appropriate driving tool. Thanks for the offer though blue ranger, I appreciate it. I kinda just ASSumed that they were torx.

old studs
i ran a die down my old studs and it would not go either..
but i used them any way... and they worked fine... :D |
I got two new ones from the dealer. I did some research and realized that the new studs were updated and did not need the washers that the old studs had. the head is on and secure I hope. the head studs made no popping or stretching noise when tightening. now I have to put on the exhaust manifold and the intake as well as the fan and shroud. after that I am all done. while doing this job I notice the ground covered in transmission fluid. I hope this car is leakless one day. oh and that 12 point was hard to find. even people at sears were clueless. if anybody around my area is having a hard time finding one. try cal aero in paramount.
