Resistance in spark plug wires
Anybody knows the specified resistance in the spark plug wires including the central ignition wire for an 1988 300E W124 M103 engine?
thanks ACM |
The wires themselves are low resistance, but the spark plug terminal ends have a 1K resistor and the each plug wire terminal on the cap has a built in 1K resistor. Not sure about the coil wire and terminals.

To measure the resistance of the terminal, must the wire be disconnected from the distributor cap? Thanks.

Measure from the center pin on one end to the center pin on the other. Proper spec range is 800 Ohm to 1.3KOhm according to MB. Use non resistor copper plugs only. Rotor resistance from center to tip is also 1KOhm. As is each tip in the cap.
Wires from cap to coil has no resistance. |
