Trunk key and Lock
 

I recently bought a 1978 280CE Mercedes but the main key does not work on the trunk lock. I took the car to a locksmith and was informed that the lock had been damaged by someone trying to jimmy it open with possibly and screw driver. I have taken the problem to a local Mercedes mechanic and he quoted me 280.00 to get a lock and key. He said he would have to send away to Germany to get the lock and it would take 4 weeks before he would possibly get the part. I don't believe this guy! I live in Santa Cruz,Ca. anybody out there have any suggestions to help me out here. I would appreciate any help. Thanks for your time! :confused:
