230TE/300TE Model Differences

i am relatively new to mercedes-benz autos, and brand new to this forum.

i am looking at a wagon to possibly purchase, a 230TE. i live in canada, this is a german car which was imported here. i understand that this model is very similar to a 300TE except for the smaller the 2.3l engine. are there any significant differences between the 230 engine and that found in a north american market 190?

are there any areas where a 230TE will give problems in parts availability? one thing i can think of is the transmission, as it is a manual.

thanks for any input.

having

owned a euro spec benz, i would think that you will have no problems getting parts. many will be the same as the 300 and the rest if you give the part number to a parts dealer he or she should be able to get it.

i have an 84 280e euro.

230 would be a 2.3L(M102, I think) and a 300 is a 3.0(M103). 2.3 probably shares parts off of the 190E 2.3.

ditto

the above. there will be differences between the euro 2.3 and the us but for operating purposes probably no difference. on my euro 280 it is hard to remember anything that i ever had to buy that was different than a us model.
