M104 Wiring Harness Plug Location and removal???

Replacing the Engine wiring harness on a M104, but there is a plug that goes down and almost underneath the oil filter housing. I can't see where it plugs in, how far it goes, or how to get at it. Any ideas from someone whos done it?? The DIY doesn't show or mention this problem. Thanks

John

I don't remember having to get underneath the car. There's one that goes underneath the intake manifold pipes as I recall - tough but doable. Just get a good small flashlight and track it - I don't think it goes down below.

thanks deanyel, but i think we're taking about 2 different things. I already unplugged the one underneath the manifold, but this one snakes down at the back of the engine block and disappears under the oil filter housing. Anyone know what I'm talking about??

John, if memory serves me right, you're talking about either the connection to the knock sensor on the side of the block under the intake manifold or the connection that goes on the transmission. The latter connection was the most difficult for me to do. There's not a lot of room between the transmission and body. It takes the hands of an 8-year-old to do that one properly.

plug

it connects to the starter solenoid, most 104's i have worked on don't have it, but two or three have. look under the plastic cover at the starter solenoid., i believe it is an 8mm nut.

I second Kestas' 8-yr old hand size quote. This was the one and only connection that had to be done from underneath and it was a blind connection.....had to do it completely by feel...and if I recall correctly, the connection was one of those that requires you to pull a plastic tab back slightly to disengage the connection. It was on the sid eo f the engine block, below the intake manifold. I figured this out on the fly; you'll get it. And BTW, I got in there with my big hands, but if they were any bigger...........
