Hi, and Happy New Year! Question: does anyone know if it is possible to retro-fit heated seats. If so, the cost and potential problems if any, involved. It has been a cold winter and my literal ass is freezing on the MB-Tex. It may be worth it to do the heated seats. Thanks in advance for you anticipated response.

Have you considered Sheepskins?
Hi there,
I suspect that a good pair of sheepskins would do the job of getting you off the MB-TEX, and would be very comfortable and warm. I put a fitted pair in my car for about $275, and I doubt that you'd find seats for that. Also, the Sheepskin Store installed them free of charge. Just a suggestion... Dorsey Lay,
I have "retrofitted" heated seats in my C-class (exchanged the complete cloth interior for a C36 AMG interior) and have to say that it can be done (in a fairly easy way). I think you are considering to retrofit the heated seats in your 190...If you can get an used system from any W201/W124 or even W202/W210, you can easily fit it into your 190. The heat exchangers are stuck in the upholstery of the seats (you need to dismantle the seats to put the heat exchangers in) and the electrical system is to be considered as being simple. If you can get some used mercedes parts, it can be done by a non-mechanic within a day... (by the way: did you check the ET size of your wheels?) greetingz,

Heated Seats
Dorsey,
There are some extremly good after market Kits that are made by a company called Rostra and these are excellant and will probably cost no more than $100.00 -$150.00 installed professionally. We sell these a lot to new car dealers and really never have any problems. Go to places like American Sunroof company or any reputable aftermarket leather seat supplier in your area and ask them.

MBenz is right
The used Mercedes parts are the way to go!!!
Just remember that you'll need a different wood piece on the console to accommodate the addition switches. After you install all the additional hardware, every passenger will assume your car always had them!

heated seats
Thanks everyone for the assistance regarding the seats. I will look into both methods of doing the seats and whichever is most cost efficent will be the way to go. I appreciate your help. Mr. MBenz, I had the mechanic check the "ET" as you stated and they say that is not the problem. From what he tells me, anytime you move up two sizes in rim an tires you can expect to "bottom out" occassionally. He also said that the tires are "to close to the front fender"?? DUAH!! ( I don't beleive that) If that were true, I'm sure all of you guys who have done it with your expensive Benz' would have said so and recommended against it. I will go to a suspension specialist next pay day. Thanks again guys, talk to you later!
