whining noise from engine...
WHen I have the key in the ignition in the on position, I get a high-pitched whinning coming from the engine area....when I turn the car on it get's louder for about 10 secs then goes away. Is this normal? IT's a 98 CLK 320

I believe that noise is normal. I was in the market for an E320 and CLK320 a couple of years ago. All teh cars I looked at hard some sort of whine. What you dont want is start up rattle or engine clunk.
