Question How to open trunk with no battery and with no key?

Any idea?
trying to get some parts out of a car but there is no key and no battery.
Can I get in the trunk through the rear seats or the gas tank is in the way?
thanks

Jumper cables

The easiest way would be to use jumper cables from a good battery to the cables of the parts car.Otherwise you'r only other real option is to go through the back seat.Good luck.

How would a battery help you? Do you have remote keyless entry and the hood open?

I'd punch through a rear door quarter window, unlock the cabin, get power through jumper cables to run the central locking pump. I'm pretty sure replacing the quarter window is cheaper than calling a locksmith.

You're not trying to steal stuff from someone else's car, right?

I might suggest using some of that plastic strapping material that is commonly used in most shipping and receiving departments across the country. You'll need about three feet, fold it in half. Cut the folded end approximately two inches back from the crease so that the width of the strapping material is roughly half of it's original width. Roll this end of the material so it forms a pronounced curve (about a 5’’ radius). Once this new hand made tool is ready you will need to slip it in between either of the front doors and the B-pillar. Wiggle it back and forth until you have the rolled end around the lock knob. Once it is in place pull both straps upward in the unlock direction. Voila!

Note: If the vehicles alarm works it will go off as soon as you open either of the front doors, providing it was armed.

I'd have to check my car to double check, but I'm 99% sure the trunk lock is vacuum activated. It must be, because mine still locks and unlocks with the doors even though the electrical actuator isn't working.

So, assuming the trunk lock still works, remove the rear seat pad and find the central locking vacuum pump. Get yourself an air source and pump air down the rubber hoses until you find the one that controls the trunk lock.

Any kind of pump will work if you can connect it to the hose, I have a syringe pump that comes with a pack of children's party balloons which works fine.

(Just had a thought. Check the position of the key slot in the lock first. If it's vertical, the above should work. If its horizontal, you're SOL)

perhaps I was not clear enough.
I have access to the main cabin but the ignition key is missing (lost)
Even if I bring power to the battery terminals, will I be able to open the trunk with no ignition key?
BTW this car is in the junk yard and the people there tell me that they have no ignition key.
thanks

It's strange that the cabin is unlocked but the trunk is locked. That means either the lock actuator is bad or the trunk lock is in valet mode (key slot is horizontal). If it's in valet mode with no master key, break out the tin snips.

That was a brilliant suggestion to apply pressure to the lines in the area of the central locking pump under the rear seat. Certainly the first thing to try. Remove the plastic cap over the vertical port below and in front of the gauge of a MityVac to use the MityVac for pressure.
