Tom, what if they tested the compression of the cold engine? Or would no mechanic ever do that?
BTW I really love that braingears site - gonna download all these pdfs. :D |
well
on a cold engine the numbers are obviously lower but i dont know how much. the MOTOR numbers are i believe on a cold engine since it doesnt state warm. and i believe if not specified by the person ordering the comp test the tester unless very experienced with benzes will test if cold. so with that in mind in my mind your car is just above the minimum for relaible starting. once started it should run fine. you are in az right? i am thinking you prob can get a lot of service from this car. i would stay to the heavy side of the recommended oils and if me i would prob use regular oil not synthetic.

update: YES, they tested the cold engine. He had it retested today right after driving it 25 miles and he got >300 on all cylinders this time with the numbers being pretty close together. I'll get a written confirmation from the mechanic who performed the test.
