The objective of the owners of these cars is to make their cars look as stupid as possible. Forget about functionality or safety. You should see the cars around where I am, people buy Honda Civics, put one wiper on them, 18 inch rims and the loudest muffler manufactured in the world. When they modify these cars to be one wiper, they leave the same wiper motor and same size wiper blade, so there is a substantial decrease in visibility during the rain. Same thing with putting blue halogen bulbs on. There may be no light, but at least it's blue.

These guys just want to have an ugly, and truly unique car without spending much money on it.

99 Percent of those "blue" bulbs are crap. But the PIAA "Plasma" bulbs are pretty good. They're not exactly "blue" but the light is whiter than normal, and road signs are easier to see at night.

There is a goofball in my neighborhood, teaches high school, has a bronze VW Bug (old version), with the Rolls Royce hood tacked on to the front and large whitewall tires. Flattery? We've petitioned the City to have him removed as a zoning violation....

Elau wrote that MB should dump Chrysler. If you noticed in your business pages yesterday, it looks like they're beginning to do just that - 23,000 jobs terminated through attrition and early retirement and 6 plants ceasing production, one here in the US. By the way, I've always thought it was Chrysler itself that had the most blatant and ridiculous Benz rip-off of all time. I'm blanking on the model name, but the grille and the hood ornament were obvious.

Mr.W123 wrote that BMW may be the most ripped-off marque. Perhaps. My oldest and dearest friend of 33 years is a BMW freak. Shortly after I purchased my 300E, I was in Arizona visiting and we met for a round of golf, as usual. For some reason while we were parked next to each other in the parking lot getting ready to leave, I ran the windshield washers and, natch, the single arm wiper did it's thing. He went crazy! He jumped out of his Z3, ran to the driver's side window of my car and demanded that I run the thing again! And again.

I never took a look into this post before, but now I see it has something to do with wipers and single and vertically...

I do not know what everybody is talking about...but

* The single vertical wiper comes out of the motorsport...
* If you have the wiper parked just at the right of the middle, it is not in your sight (I have heard...)
* Every VW Golf or Opel Kadett driver in europe with a little nit of self esteem has a one-wiper system mounted on his car (although is is not legal)...
* the one wiper mercedes system sucks! Cars with 2 wipers wipe, in general, half a window per wiper. My Benz has ONE wiper to push around the dirt from the entire left to the entire right (and back again). If it is raining in the dark and you face upcomming traffic, the mercedes wiper system will just get you blinded.

Mercedes finally settled this mistake by producing the new W203 C-class with two wipers again!

...vertical-parked-one-wiper-system...I wonder why people do that kind of things...

greetingz,

On the subject of wiper blades. Why does the W107 and Porsche 911s, have wipers that wipe from the left to the right. Like someone mentioned, the wiper sys. on the W116 leaves alot to be desired. I don't quite understand why they have a flopping action to them. It leaves a large area at the bottom left side of the windshield uncleared. I thought I had read somewhere that the way the wipers lay on top of each other is for aerodynamics.
