87 300E runs rough and ANTILOCK light on
I have an 87 300E with 290,000 miles on it. About a month ago it started running rough at idle and the ANTILOCK light comes on. Once in a while it runs OK and the light is off. I have read that it is probably the OVP relay. I remove it and the fuse is good and the relay meters out. Because it is $85 i need to feel confident it will fix the problem. Thanks in advance.

it most likely is the cause...what is the part number on it?

my guess, it's something with current/voltages...
...my father's '91 300D-Turbo had the same problem, occasionally. And when the problem was there, after shutting down, the car didn't want to start (not even a crank, no current at all) ..
The connector to the negative pole on the battery was heavily corroded, we removed and cleaned it, reinstalled and tightened it and the car was back in normal shape and never showed that studdering and anti-lock problem again. Maybe the OVP relay is the troublemaker in your case.. Just my 2 cents. |

I replaced the OVP and it fixed the problems. Thanks a lot for the assistance.
