Well, I hate to say this but I am thinking of just getting rid of my 300E. I really just cant afford it anymore, but actually more of my reason for thinking of selling it is because what I really would like is a good 300D. Anyhow, I went to KBB and did a trade in value and did the "rate my car" thing that asks you questions about the condition of the vehicle. Well I did it honestly saying the car needed engine repair/replace, body work, paint job, interior work and stuff like that. Well the thing said I could get $2,775 US dollars for it on a trade in. Could this possibly be true? I didnt think it would be worth that much but hey. Also do any of you think I could actually sell it for that much money? Thanks for your help in advance.

I have seen a number of classified ads in the mid atlantic area for $6,000 + of this vintage for good condition but high mileage.

Girl in my office bought a 86 300E from original owner with a bag of receipts and 112K for $6000. It needed tires and had a small oil leak and misc. dings but not bad. If interior is good on yours and it drives, maybe higher than $2700.

Mid eighties 300Es go for anywhere between 6 and 10 grand up here in Canada depending on condition more than mileage.

Run a search on cars.com and autotrader.com to get an idea what cars in your area are selling for. Your car could be worth more than $2700.

A lot depends upon where you live. In So. California that is probably a reasonable price for the condition. When my daughter was living in Louisville,KY., I was amazed at the prices for used MB's, at least double what they were here. A used W123 diesel in So Cal is almost impossible to sell. Politically incorrect you know. Ed
