My 94 E320 is still in the shop for some warranty work. When it comes out I want to replace my front brake rotors. Does anybody know what's the size of the front brake rotor retaining bolt (looks like it takes an allen wrench per the 124 CD-ROM manual)? I don't have the best equipped shop in my garage and I may have to go out and buy the proper-sized wrench, and if anybody knows the answer you can save me a step or two.

Thanks
Bill

You will need a 19mm socket and a long bar to break the bolt loose. You will need to dab some loctite blue on the bolts before reinstallation.

Donnie, I think you did a "Gotcha":D. 19mm for the little allen screw that keeps the rotor in place on the spindle...Maybe the caliper retainer bolts. Thought that fellow was a little 5mm hex drive.

The front rotors are held on to the wheel hub with 8mm Allen screws. If they seem to be very tight, apply heat. This will break the Locktite.Use a 19mm socket to remove the caliper(2 bolts).Good luck.

Thanks, Gents:

Got the locktite, got the 19mm socket, got the long bar, and got a heat source. Now to get the 8mm allen wrench!

Thanks, you've saved me a couple of extra steps.

Cheers
Bill

Thanks for jumping in Bill. It's been a while since I've pulled rotors on the E car. 8mm sounds like the ticket. BTW, if you are doing this in the driveway or other than on a lift, be sure of your jack stands and block the rear wheels. Be sure-be safe..
