107 transmission
Have been googling for over an hour trying to find info on the 5 speed transmission in my 1975, 280SL. I can only see a part of the number embossed on the case because of the slave cylinder. It is 117 261.
The number on the shift linkage cover is 117 261 04 19 Any help or direction to a web site appreciated. |
717.400
is the number in my haynes book for the fiver found in the 123 280s. if that is the same as yours i can give some basic info.
it is the fiver that is essentially a four speed with cast iron case with an aluminum od case bolted on the back. tom w |

That sounds like it, it definitely has a bolt on case for the overdrive. That
case is also 117 261 so I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing. |
dont know if it is the same
or not. i suspect it is.
what do you want to know? tom w |
107 Tranny
Basically who made it, ZF, Getrag, MB, so I can try and track down a service manual.
Thanks for your help by the way. |
well
it doesnt say who made it. my guess is getrag. it has a pretty comprensive breakdown of it in the haynes manual for the 280, 1977 to 1981. probably four pages showing how to measure wear on the synchros and how to take it all apart. it looks like it may be all that you need.
