ABC Problem-'02 CL500

The problem I'm having with my '02 CL500 is the front end drops (evenly) after sitting for 2-3 weeks. Then, when you go to start it, a warning message appears saying "do not drive car, etc.". After starting, the front end rises and all is fine. I took it in for service (warranty) and was told by MB that the "front valve block for ABC is leaking internally" so they replaced the valve and flushed the system. They supposedly discussed the problem with MB Headquarters while working on the car. After getting the car back, I let it sit for another couple of weeks, and not supprisingly, the front dropped again.

At this point, I'm undecided about taking it in again since I'm unsure if they can fix it and hate going there anyway lest they screw up something else, among other concerns. In reallity, if I used the car more I wouldn't even know the problem existed. What bothers me though is whether or not this could get worse or lead to other ABC problems later. On the other hand, if this is the only problem (if this is really a problem) I'll have with the ABC, I couldn't care less.

I still have about 6 weeks left on factory warranty and have Starmark extended warranty for another 3 years. I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with this and what they suggest.

I had an S600 doing the same thing but only on the right front side. It would slowly raise up over a few minutes then suddenly drop and kept repeating this. For mine, flushing the system and replacing the front valve block fixed it, also replaced the rear valve block for another problem. They should know to bleed the system and it should have been done after the repair. Check your the RO with your reciept to see if that was listed. I'm not too sure what else might be causing it for you but it wouldn't be out of the question for the new part to be faulty. Take it back to them and let them fix it right, as long as its under warranty, nows the time to get it fixed.

I did take it in again and basically they said they find nothing wrong. In fact, the shop foreman told me that he has seen new untitled CL's on the lot that have dropped EVENLY in the front. (I believe a drop to one side is a totally different issue). I have also had several techs tell me that the fronts will drop after sitting a while. While I've had guys on other forums tell me that this is a bunch of BS, I'm not so sure. One reason is because my dealer has been so good to me regarding other problems I've had with the car and parts replacement. (Way too many problems with this car, BTW). I did contact MB Cust. Svc. in NJ but they tell me they back all decisions made by dealers.

Interestingly, I have been unable to find this problem (even front end drop) on any of the MB sites I visit. I think it may be because there aren't that many CL's with ABC, and of those that have it, there aren't many that are left sitting for more that a couple of weeks at a time.

As for the future, my factory warranty is up in a couple of weeks and then I go in to Starmark warranty which my dealer tells me would cover any ABC issues. So. I guess we'll see what happens. Thanks for your response.
