I'm currently looking for a set of Euro lights for my 300E and have considered 'aftermarket' euro lights that are less expensive than the Bosch units. Does anyone know if these aftermarket units are as good as the Bosch units in terms of performance, durability and reliability. I'd love to pay less but not at the expense of quality. Thanks.

The only Euro lights I know of are the Bosch or the Hella units. Both companies made lights for MB as OEM suppliers. Both were made with the European vacuum servo beam aiming system, or without. Both are available with included turn indicator assemblies, or without. But not every vendor gives you these options. Many vendors just stock the ones with included turn indicators and no vacuum aiming servos. I believe there is an Italian supplier as well, but I don't have any experience with them. Are there other brands you know of than these?

There is a gentleman that is trying to sell me a set locally over the phone. I asked him if they were Bosch and he said they were not Bosch but were aftermarket. He did not mention who the maker was. I was then under the assumption that there may be a handful of makers of these lights and that they may not all be of equal quality. I remember buying a set of clear blinkers for my 300E that were from In-Pro that were definitely not of equal quality as the original Bosch units. I would hate to buy a set of Euros that were poorly made just to save some money.

re:euro lights

jdoc7,

hey buddy i went for the bosch euros. they [to me at least] are the best money i have ever spent on any car. i know that's a big statement, but it's true.

you said you were disapointed in your clear corners from in-pro [so was i]. don't put yourself through that again.
you will not be disapointed with either bosch or hella ones.

i agree with [the experienced euro light man] jce, if the guy is "ashamed" of his product run like hell bro!

imho it's too big of an upgrade/investment to not know for sure what you'll get.
it will be worth every penny you spend the first night yoy crank 'em up.

i am not a tech or mb mechanic but i am experienced here.
look at my postings, most on on euro lights.
and or do a search on "euro lights" and judge from all the different peoples comments yourself.

good luck

Aftermarket lights

I ordered a set of lights that were not Bosch or Hella and was told they were made in Italy. The pair that arrived were for a 94-95 and wouldn't fit my 93 400E so I sold them.
I did look inside and the quality looked very good and could pass for a Bosch unit if branded as such. The supplier also said the Bosch replacement lenses fit them if needed. The going price for these is around $300/pr. I've since reordered another set to fit my car.

Fifft address and web site are on this discussion: Anyone heard of Fifft Italy?

Thanks for triggering my memory, Alon! I knew there was an Italian company out there, just couldn't remember the name.

Hi everyone, recently I purchased a set of Bosch eurolights for my 300E and it really made a difference, worth every bit of money. It came with orange blinkers, do MB make clear ones?

Also I purchased a set of Piaa Plasma H4 bulbs, Not much brighter than regular H4, only blueish when looking at
them, I think it is a waste of money, so don't waste yours

Thanks

Chupr98:
The only clear indicators made by MB that I have seen in the US are the ones on 95 E320/420s, and they have an orange reflector "stripe" at the back. I believe that Hella makes some clear ones, and they are an MB OEM supplier, so if you can find them, the quality should be right up there. Maybe some of the European members know if MB has clear indicators available in Europe.

I was trying to get the Italian lights from Impro.
They never got the shipment and told me that the price for them went up !!! Ken gave me his friends number, who had this lights. I was quated something like $390 for the pair.
Oh well..... 15 minutes later I ordered Hella's from Beckers for $400 a pair. Some how I did not get the blinkers with them (but than again.. I didn't pay $439 wich is the price mentioned on their site).
By the way Hellas where made in Chech Repablick not in Germany.

Hey DMITRY...

DMITRY...

I noticed on your post that you have a 300E with the Intra "Signum" rims. I am about to buy those from Bekkers. I have a 92 400E, and wondering what those rims would look like on my car. Do you possibly have a pic of your car, I'm really interested to see how they look on the car. Also, how do the rims fit? Do they stick out at all? Do they rub? I wanted to go with the 18s but I just bought HR springs and dont think the 18s will fit.

They look good. I am not very exited becouse they are a downgrade for me from chrome Lorinsers RS-90 17"x8" thats why I am so mellow .
What you see on Beckeres site is 18"x8". They have the "deep dish" efect which atracted me to them in the first place, but I got 17"x7.5" and the lip is not that noticable. Overall the quality seems good (German). I like the color, it stands out even more than the chromes that I had. I got them becouse you don't see them on a lot of MB's as opose to AMG Monoblocks, etc. Personaly I have never seen them, and I like to add some individuality to my car. They don't stick out at all (my front wheels rub a litle becouse I have mud guards but nothing rubed before I install those)
Sorry I got no picture. I might get some but not within a week. If you can go with 18", do it , then they are defenately good looking wheels

In regards to the clear indicators,

My set just arrived from http://www.bekkers.com for approximately $97US. They are Bosch, comes in the classic yellow box with red "Bosch" lettering coverin' it, and on the indicator, it says "Made in Germany" and "Bosch". I guess these are M-B OE clear indicators, as DSinger said...

Hey guys,

I finally found out who the aftermarket maker of these euro lights is. The seller said they were made by TYC from Germany. Anybody ever heard of them? He says these are OEM quality lights and they are comparable to Bosch. Still contemplating buying them. Any suggestions? They are significantly less expensive than Bosch.
