w124 wagon rear power supply???

Hello all,

I've been looking through my FRM wiring diagrams and cannot find a good 12V BAT power supply in the rear of the car.

Here's a little background. I have a w124 wagon, and I want to add a 12v power supply in the rear (cigar Lighter socket), tucked in behind one of the two access panels. I don't want to pull wire all the way back from the fuse block if there is a usable fairly independent 12V trunk line somewheres easy to tap into.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

What the Deuce!?

I've at least found which leads not to use...
I found the antenna arial lead and noticed decent gauge wire...aha, connect, plug in, pop goes the fuse. Checked connectivity etc, all fine. New fuse, zippityzap. BLAST!! Must be drawing too much power. Hmmm...

Change of plans, the sunroof motor...Aha now I've got you, connect, plug in and pop goes the fuse. DOUBLE BLAST!!

Sooo My dear Mercedes, you think I am beat...but NO! Feareth thou, there is still the rear wiper motor, AAHHAA!! ZAP!! BLAST THRICE!!!

Fear Not, I Shall Return to fight another day...Any Ideas? My test accessory is a mini air/tire pump rated at 7.5Amps Start and 5amp cont. running. All of the leads I tested are rated for 16 amps. Don't know why I would have popped those fuses?

Why don't you want to run a wire from the front?

Personally, I'd run a nice beefy 10 guage wire directly from the battery with a 20 or 30 amp inline fuse. Then it'll be done, and it'll be done right.

Just my 2 cents... arguably worth that!

JP, do you have a suggested route for the wiring, I mean, is there a body tunnel that is already used for this, I would hate to have to pull the interior and carpet all the way back, but agree with you that a new circuit would be the best choice. I was hoping MB would have terminal connections in the front and rear of the car to supply power to everything.
