I put new rotors and pads on the wife's '85 300D today. Everything was going well, then I noticed I couldn't compress the outboard piston on the passenger side. So the pad wouldn't go in.

Upon further inspection, the outer seal came off in my hand. The piston seems frozen, I can't force it back into the bore.

My question is, oh wise readers, can this Bendix caliper be rebuilt? Or is it time to replace? I sprayed some WD40 on it and will see if it's freed up tomorrow.

Thanks to the things I've learned and the confidence I've gained from this forum, I was able to tackle this task and save several hundred dollars.

Thanks guys!

Mr. Bill, I just had the same question for myself and finally came to a conclusion. The MB dealer had "rebuild kits" for $47.00 each. I found rebuilt calipers for $35.00 each, so I ordered them.. and will have them installed on Wednesday. I do believe mine are ATX though.. so I hope this helps.
