catalytic converter repair itself?
Recently did a tune up on '93 300e 2.8 and it runs great! Before the tuneup it had irregular miss and ran poorly, no power, etc. I wonder if the catalytic converter suffered any permanent damage due to the unburned fuel that was going into the exhaust or will it sorta "clean" itself?
Thanks, Al |

The OE converters are pretty stout, and they would have to get red hot to do any permanent damage. Mine is still good with almost 200K miles on the clock.
