Hi,
The vertical aim mechanism on my 95 E320 is broken and I am wondering if there is a way to fix it?
Specifically, there is a ball/ socket joint which holds the reflector in place and which is responsible for forward backward motion along the axis of the car. The socket is broken and the ball keeps popping out. This in turn leaves the reflector with greater freedom to move about, thus preventing vertical aim setting.
As a result, the reflector can be aiming at oncoming drivers instead of on the road.
The straightforward way would be to replace the entire assembly, but I am seeking to avoid the $250 or higher cost of doing so.
Anyone have any experience with this/ ideas?
Thanks as always

Headlight aim broken fix

Use high strength epoxy to repair/rebuild the socket. You will have to removed the headlight bucket to get it right. Be sure you coat the ball stud with vasoline to keep the epoxy from sticking to it!
