Since my next project is to change the rear torque strut, as recommended by people in this forum, I was checking my multilink suspension yesterday to see what other components may need replacement while I am there. I noticed the rubber around the 2 socket bolts (looking from the rear)that hold the rear axle carrier from the rear axle center portion together are almost gone. MB manual job 35-430 shows removal of the complete axle carrier. My questions are: Can I remove the bolts and replace the rubber only, if the are available, while supporting the rear axle or do I have to remove the whole axle carrier? Any tips on the replacement of the rear torque strut?
I do have access to a lift. TIA.

The job does not require removing the whole assy. We disconnect the differential from the subframe (leaving it attached to the driveshafts. By pushing the assy down and to the side clearance is gathered.

The mounts themselves will need to be pulled into the subframe as the rubber mount has a steel outer skin.

I guess there is an easy way and a hard way to do everything. This is exactly what I want, different ways of doing things. Do I really need those special tools to remove the rubber bushings (mounts?)or can I make my own?
Oh, what about tips on the rear torque strut? It seems pretty straigh forward. Remove bolts, replace strut with new and improved part, reinstall new and improved bolts.
TIA.
