'91 500sl headlight washer empties reservoir

Help! My '91 500sl has a little problem... When the headlights are on and I use the window washer, the driver's side headlight washer does the Duracell Bunny thing... It keeps going and going and going until the washer fluid reservoir empties itself out (sigh). Interestingly, it doesn't happen when the lights are off and I use the window washer. Any ideas, thoughts or experience with similar gremlins/hauntings in that area? Thanx!

VERY common problem on the early R129 chassis! The headlight wipers are sticking on the headlight lens OR the H/L wiper motor is defective!

THERE was a recall for the H/L washer motor on those cars!

What do I do to have recall item fixed?

Thank you MB Doc! Now, what do I do to resolve a recall item? Can I contact a MB dealership and request the item be fixed under the recall, even if I don't go there for service and didn't purchase my car there? Also, if it is a recall item, what charges would I be liable for? Labor? Parts? Again, thank you for answering!

ANY dealer should be willing to run a VMI (vehicle master inquiry) and see if that recall is still open OR has already been done!

THE recall is for the washer motor, not for the H/L wiper motor or wiper arm adjustment!

Again, thank you MB Doc... In the meanwhile, the chief mechanic at our MB shop did the next best thing - he simply unplugged the headlight washer for me (duh!)... I'll give a call about an inquiry to the VMI, though. Again, I appreciate the suggestions...
