heater core shouldnt make engine overheat. just will lack cabin heating. if you give us more description of how car is overheating we might be able to help figure it out.

Hey Karl. The engine plugs are on both sides of the engine towards the front. They are 6mm hex that go in verical; they completely drain both cyl banks. Watch not to loosen the wrong fasteners. It would be best to look at a sevice cd for their exact local. If no heat is the complaint, ck your heater valve. Use the search format. Hope this helps.

84 mercedes 380se

I used coolant flush and then refilled with antifreeze. Thought all was well until I needed to use the heater. Now I am not getting any heat. So I think the heater core is clogged. When I flushed the radiator I used the drain at the bottom of it, since I didn't know about the engine drains. What do you think? Thanks Karl

Well, couple of things: 1st determine if the heater valve next to the battery on the firewall is stuck. Shoot some wd-40 on the electromagmet and tap it. Have the heater on and set the fan to high. Could be stuck. Also, acc unit could be a culprit also. These devices have a mind of their own when they get old. You could take it out and carefully resolder the plug contacts. I did this to mine and it seemed to fix all the gremlins. I could actually see the cracks in the solder joints. If you are getting fan action and proper air direction to the set vent, then maybe the unit is ok. Regardless, if the heater valve is stuck closed, it will hinder coolant from entering the heater core. Vise versa, it will blow hot all the time. Again, the search have covered these topics throughly in the past. Hope this helps!
